The 3rd Best Day of Snowboarding Ever took place yesterday at Theodore Wirth Snowboard Area.  The snow was soft and made it difficult to maintain landings, but we had many friends and family helping out all day Friday and Saturday to ensure that the event was successful.

    The event runs with a loose format with mini contests throughout the day and judges taking notes of who is riding best.  We decided that this year we would take the top 5 riders of the day and invite them to join the Cal Surf team and ride in the Snowboard in the City Rail Jam Friday night in dowtown Minneapolis on Peavey Plaza.  The rail jam will be taking place during Hollidazzle, which generates crowds of 26,000 people to Nicollet Mall.

   This year featured a round down rail, a spine, a down flat down box and an up box with an adjacent stair set.  Riders from all over the state showed up, along with Benji Meyer filming for Fuel TV.  Kids were ripping and the day was a blast.  Several riders stood out and earned their spot in the rail jam.

    The judges made a special note of a few riders.  In the Minor Threat division, top honors went to Aiden Flanagan, followed by Johnny Winge and a rider noted by the yellow tall tee under his jacket.  Honorable mentions that just missed the trip downtown go to Nevin Nelson and the rider known as the other Shaun White.
